The different top 10 type of addiction:

1) GAMBLING: From placing bets on football matches to placing chips on the roulette table, gambling comes in all sorts of forms. In 2012, more than 60% of adults had participated in a gambling activity within the prior 12 months.

2) COFFEE: The energy-boosting beverage that contains caffeine. According to the British Coffee Association, coffee is the most consumed drink worldwide.

3) ALCOHOL: Although alcohol is legal it is worth noting that overuse can be as deadly as most prohibited drugs. According to the office for National Statistics there were 8,697 alcohol related deaths in 2014 in the UK alone.

4) DRUGS: The abuse of illegal and prescribed drugs can have catastrophic consequences. Around 1 in 11 adults aged 16-59 had taken an illicit drug between the years 2013-2014.

5) ANGER: This behaviour is one that people may overlook as an addiction, but it’s also one that people frequently commit to. An example is when you use your anger to deal with your issues.

6) WORKAHOLIC: Work is a vital part of life, and in most western countries, it’s one of the most important. But over-working can have negative consequences on your personal and family relationships.

7) FOOD: Food addiction is similar to drug addiction because it has the same effect on the brain. There are a number of causes for this addiction, including biological, psychological and social reasons. One biological factor is the hormonal changes that take place during pregnancy.

8) THE INTERNET: Internet addiction can be broken into numerous categories. The interaction and attachment one gets from social media, pornography and dating sites all play a part in this obsession.

9) SMOKING: Found in cigarettes, this drug can cause unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Sufferers will feel the urge to smoke in order to temporarily fill their cravings. Some of the consequences that come along with smoking include cancer.

10) PORN: Porn is more to do with visual stimulation – viewing unrealistic sexual activity online – thus damaging a person’s view & interaction with sex in their relationships.
